Commercial Printing
Outsourced print bureau for Pacific businesses — small and mid-sized jobs produced locally from our Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga production centres; larger orders and specialist work routed to Alpine Print, our New Zealand sister company. One brief, one quote, one delivery.
Sourcing print is somebody's part-time job — and it's slowing your team down.
Across most Pacific businesses, somebody on the marketing, operations or finance team is the de facto print buyer — chasing quotes, comparing finishes, coordinating delivery, fixing artwork files that came back from one supplier and need re-saving for the next. The hours add up, the result is often two or three uncoordinated suppliers with no shared standards, deadlines slip and quality varies job to job. A managed bureau relationship replaces it with one point of contact, one set of file standards, one accountable team for both small local jobs and large overflow.
- What
What is a managed commercial print bureau?
A service relationship where you outsource your print to a single supplier who handles file preparation, production, finishing and delivery — instead of running it yourself or coordinating multiple print vendors directly. Our bureau has two production footprints: local in the Pacific and Alpine Print in New Zealand.
- Why it matters
Print procurement eats more time than people notice
Quote-chasing, file-fixing, supplier coordination and delivery follow-up consume meaningful internal hours every month — and produce inconsistent quality because no single supplier owns the standard. A bureau relationship replaces all of that with one point of contact and one quality bar.
- How Ricoh fixes it
Brief in, we produce and deliver
You send the brief and the artwork. We quote, prepare the files, route the job to local or Alpine Print depending on size and finishing, produce it, and deliver it. Recurring runs are scheduled; brand templates are kept on file; quality is consistent because the workflow is.
Brief a print job
Our approach.
Most Pacific organisations do not want to own a production press, but they still need print produced reliably — government forms, school workbooks, marketing collateral, NCR receipt pads, books, board reports, promotional merchandise. Commercial Printing is the Ricoh South Pacific print bureau service that handles all of it. Smaller and mid-sized jobs run on our own production kit locally in Apia, Honiara and Nuku'alofa. Larger jobs and specialist finishing — perfect-bound books, NCR pads, large-format runs, branded promotional goods — route to Alpine Print, our New Zealand sister company who operate the bigger presses and finishing equipment those jobs need. From your side, it is one supplier, one PO, one invoice, one delivery.

Frequently asked questions.
The questions South Pacific decision-makers ask most often before they engage on commercial printing.
What is a managed commercial print bureau and how does it work?
A commercial print bureau takes print jobs in from customers, prepares the files, produces the work and delivers the finished print back. The customer does not own a press, does not employ pre-press or production operators, and does not coordinate multiple suppliers. They have one point of contact who handles the entire flow from brief to delivery. Ricoh South Pacific runs a bureau across the Pacific with two production footprints behind it: local production at our Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga centres for everyday jobs, and Alpine Print in New Zealand for larger and specialist runs.
What kinds of jobs are produced locally versus routed to Alpine Print?
Day-to-day colour and mono work — brochures, flyers, reports, workbooks, forms, posters, business stationery, basic finishing like stapling and folding — runs locally on our own production kit in Apia, Honiara and Nuku'alofa where turnaround speed and freight cost favour producing in-market. Larger runs, perfect-bound books, board-style reports, NCR receipt pads, full-bleed coffee-table publications, branded promotional merchandise and specialist finishing (foil, emboss, die-cut, lamination at scale) route to Alpine Print, our New Zealand sister company who operate the larger presses and finishing lines those jobs need.
What is Alpine Print and why does Ricoh South Pacific work with them?
Alpine Print is a New Zealand commercial print and promotional goods business — our sister company within the same group. They operate the larger production presses, perfect-binding and specialist finishing equipment, and promotional-product workflows that are not economic to operate in every Pacific market. By routing the larger jobs through Alpine, our Pacific bureau customers get NZ-grade production capacity without dealing with two suppliers. You brief us, we route the work to whichever footprint produces it best, and you receive one quote and one delivery.
Can you handle recurring print like exam papers, NCR pads or government forms?
Yes — recurring print is the bureau's natural fit. We keep your templates on file, schedule production around your release cycle, and produce on a predictable cadence so you do not re-brief every round. NCR (no-carbon-required) pads, government gazettes, school exam papers, monthly newsletters, board packs and audit deliverables are routine for the bureau. For very long runs we route the production to Alpine Print; for shorter or more time-sensitive runs we produce locally to compress turnaround.
What finishing options does the bureau offer?
Across the two footprints: saddle-stitch and perfect binding, GBC and wiro binding, ring-binding, collation, NCR padding (for receipt and order books), folding (half, tri-fold, Z-fold, gate-fold), laminating (gloss, matt, soft-touch), die-cutting, foil stamping, embossing, edge trimming, and finishing on promotional goods (printing, packaging, kitting). Larger and more specialist finishing runs route to Alpine Print; everyday finishing happens locally.
What does the file preparation and proofing process look like?
You send artwork in any common format (PDF, InDesign, Illustrator). We review it before press for the things that commonly cause reprints — colour space, font embedding, bleed, image resolution, transparency flattening, page imposition — and either confirm it is press-ready or send back a short list of corrections. For most jobs we provide a digital proof for sign-off; for higher-stakes work (full-bleed corporate reports, brand-critical collateral) we provide a hard-copy proof. The goal is to absorb the back-and-forth on our side so you sign off once and the result matches.
What is the typical turnaround time for a print job?
Day-to-day jobs produced locally — flyers, brochures, posters, basic stapled or folded work — typically turn around in 2 to 5 working days from approved artwork, depending on quantity and finishing. Jobs routed to Alpine Print include New Zealand to Pacific freight; planning that into the brief, the turnaround is typically 2 to 3 weeks for perfect-bound books and similar. Urgent jobs are accommodated where the press schedule allows — early conversation about a deadline always helps. We size and route every job to hit the deadline you actually have.
Do you supply custom promotional products and branded merchandise?
Yes — through our promotional products operation at promo.ricohsouthpacific.com. Apparel (polos, hoodies, hi-vis), drinkware (mugs, bottles, tumblers), pens and stationery, lanyards and ID accessories, branded signage giveaways, conference and event collateral, corporate gift packs and bespoke branded merchandise. Decoration handled in-line with the order — screen print, embroidery, sublimation, laser etching, full-colour digital — so you brief once and the finished kit arrives ready to hand out. Routed alongside print jobs where it makes sense, so a single event campaign can ship as one delivery.
