Interactive Classic S4 86"

The CommBox Interactive Classic S4 86” is the large-format unit in the Classic S4 line — CommBox’s previous-generation flagship interactive touchscreen, still actively sold alongside the newer S5. The S4 runs Android 11 on the CommBox OS, supports 40-point infrared touch, and is designed for classrooms, training rooms, meeting rooms and collaboration spaces that need a large 4K touch surface without paying for the S5’s newer feature set (Wi-Fi 6 tri-band, NFC, AI/NPU, 50-point touch, Google EDLA / CASA Tier 3 certifications).

At 86 inches, this is the right model for larger classrooms (30+ students), divisible training rooms and senior briefing rooms where the screen needs to be readable from 8 metres back. Designed in Australia, backed by a 5-year on-site swap-out warranty, supported through the CommBox Experience Centre in Auckland. The 86” model needs a heavy-duty install — at 64.65 kg net and 800 × 600 mm VESA, allow for certified installation and structural review.

Both the Classic S4 and Classic S5 are still on sale. Recommend the S5 by default where budget allows — the S4 is appropriate when:

Where it fits

• Larger classrooms (30+ students) and lecture spaces — 86” is the standard size for senior-secondary and tertiary teaching spaces — large enough to remain readable from the back of a 9–10 m room. Microsoft-friendly stack (Teams + CommBox OS) suits schools standardised on Microsoft 365 Education.
• Training rooms and divisible meeting spaces — Front-facing 20 W stereo + 54 W audio output suits a single open meeting room without an external soundbar. CommBox Connect handles BYOD screen sharing without extra licensing.
• Boardroom and senior briefing displays — USB-C single-cable BYOD ergonomics combined with 40-point touch for collaborative annotation; OPS Slot-in PC option provides certified Microsoft Teams Rooms experience in-panel.
• Procurement environments standardised on the S4 generation — If a customer already has S4 units in the fleet, adding more S4 keeps a single estate to manage in CommBox Manage and a single training surface for staff. Useful for staged rollouts where the S5 might come in a later refresh.
