The C4010A is the right tool when the label is part of the brand and the volume sits in the small-to-medium band. A craft brewery printing today’s batch of bottle labels in full colour. A small-batch cosmetics line that changes packaging quarterly. A pharma reseller printing GHS-compliant warnings on the spot. A food producer iterating recipes weekly and wanting the labels to keep up.
The economics are cleanest when batches are under 1,000 labels per run and the design or claim changes more than monthly. There’s no offshore minimum order to commit to, no obsolete pre-printed stock to write off when a recipe changes, no 6-week lead time blocking a product launch. The printer sits on a counter, the labels come out in colour, today’s run prints today.
In the ColorWorks family, the C4010A is the entry desktop model — same 4-inch print width as the C6010 and the C8010, but lighter duty cycle, smaller roll capacity (101.6 mm vs 203.2 mm), and auto-cutter only. Step up to the C6010 when the workload is closer to continuous production or you’re replacing an existing thermal-transfer printer and need ZPL II compatibility. Step up to the C8010 when batch sizes hit production-volume territory (300 mm/sec line inkjet, 1.9 L ink capacity). Step sideways to the C6510 when the labels need to be wider than 4 inches.
Pairs cleanly with the Zebra ZD621 in operations that have both a high-volume single-colour workflow (front counter, deli weight-and-price, kitchen orders) and a branded full-colour workflow (product packaging). One supplier, two purpose-built tools — no compromise either way.
Features
- Pigment ink for water-, fade- and smudge-resistant labels — durability close to direct-thermal but in full colour
- Print on-demand short runs (50–500 labels) without offshore minimums or 6-week lead times
- Individual CMYK cartridges — replace only the colour that's empty, not the whole tank
- Built-in cutter rated 1.5M cuts on paper liner — sized for a working production life, not a hobby unit
- Successor to the long-running ColorWorks C3500 — more compact, lower ink cost-per-label
- Drop-in workflow with major design tools (BarTender, NiceLabel, Loftware) and most ERPs
