The C8010 is the only line-inkjet model in the desktop-friendly Epson ColorWorks family. Where the C4010A, C6010 and C6510 all use serial-inkjet TFP printheads that move across the page, the C8010 has a stationary line printhead with the media feeding underneath — the same fundamental architecture as a high-end production printer. That’s why it can sustain 300 mm/sec (11.8 ips) where the desktop models max out at 119 mm/sec (C6010) or 85 mm/sec (C6510).
Customers land on the C8010 for two reasons. Volume — when batch sizes hit 10,000+ labels in a run and operator interventions to swap small cartridges become a productivity tax. The 1.9 L ink capacity (4 × 480 mL packs) and the 500 km paper-feed life are sized for unattended batch production. Fleet integration — Epson Cloud Solution PORT lets a central operations team see production status, ink levels, and operation history across multiple C8010s remotely. Useful when you’re running multiple lines or multiple sites.
It’s worth being precise about what the C8010 ISN’T. It isn’t wider than the desktop ColorWorks models — same 108 mm max print width as the C4010A and C6010. For wider-format labels (up to 211.9 mm), the right answer is the C6510 — same engine architecture as the C6010 but in an 8-inch chassis. The C8010 trades width for speed and duty cycle.
Quick clarification on model numbers. This page is Epson’s ColorWorks CW-C8010 — a 4-inch industrial colour inkjet label printer. The Ricoh IM C8010 is an A3 office colour MFP. Same digits, completely different devices from different vendors. Two different listings, two genuinely different products.
Features
- Line-inkjet print method — fundamentally different architecture from the desktop ColorWorks models, with a stationary printhead and the media moving under it. The reason it can hit 300 mm/sec where the desktop TFP serial-inkjet C6010 maxes at 119 mm/sec
- 1.9 L ink capacity (4 × 480 mL packs) — sized for batch runs of 10,000+ labels without operator intervention to swap cartridges
- Permanent PrecisionCore printhead — designed for industrial duty cycles; no printhead-replacement consumable cost
- Epson Cloud Solution PORT integration — remote fleet management at scale (production status, ink levels, operation history)
- ZPL II native compatibility plus colour extensions — drops into thermal-transfer migration workflows where ZPL is already established and adds colour rendering
- 1.5 million cuts auto-cutter sized to match the paper-feed life — both engineered as production-grade consumables not desktop convenience items
